Relocating Requires Energy
When we’re stressed, we often “treat” ourselves to comfort food. These seem good at the time, as they give us a dopamine high, a bit of a happy buzz. Unfortunately – and this is the bit we usually forget – this doesn’t last long, and we then go into a sugar crash, feeling sluggish and craving yet another high. So, back to the biscuit tin we go!
Moving homes has a reputation for being stressful. Therefore, it is worth ensuring that we’re treating our minds and bodies well during this time. Along with exercising, drinking water, and getting enough sleep, the foods we eat can play an essential role in keeping our energy levels up.
Complex carbs such as whole grains, oats, and legumes provide us with a steady supply of energy throughout the day. Eating a diet that includes whole fruits (especially berries), seeds, vegetables, eggs, and fatty fish (like salmon) will all help with fueling our body with what it needs. Blueberries, nuts, turmeric, fatty fish, and eggs are also great for brain health too. Ideal for keeping our mind alert and positive when we are making all those house-move decisions.
It may take a little bit of pre-planning, but there are significant benefits from eating a healthy balanced diet, especially at times of high stress.
